Matar Waale chawal


Create the good old homely flavours using MAI RASOI Rozana Basmati Rice and MAI RASOI Toor Dal to prepare this lovely dish of Matar Wale Chawal and Rozzana Dal.

Ingredients

  1. 2 ½ cup basmati rice (washed and soaked for 1 hour, and drained)
  2. 2 tablespoons ghee
  3. 1 teaspoon jeera
  4. 1 cup onion
  5. 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  6. 1 ½ cup peas( shelled)
  7. salt to taste
  8. 1 cup onions – sliced and fried golden for garnishing

Method

  1. Heat the ghee and add jeera. When they crack, add the chopped onions and fry till golden.
    Add garam masala. Stir and add the rice.
  2. Fry for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the peas and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. add 2/3 cup of water and bring to a boil.
  5. Add the salt.
  6. Pressure cook. after first whistle, reduce the heat and cook for another 6-7 minutes.
    Garnish with fried onions once the steam is out. Serve hot.
