We all love our toor dal, but try this recipe with MAI RASOI Masoor Dal…Full of protein and iron, this Dal recipe tastes like love. You’ll just have to try it.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup MAI RASOI Toor dal (also known asarhar dal)( or even try masoor)
- 3 or4 cups water
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1- 2 tablespoon garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons cumin seeds (jeera)
- 1 teaspoon pepper (Kali mirchi ) powder
- 1/ 2 cup butter or ghee or cream
- 1/2 cup cream (optional)
- I cup yoghurt (whisked)
- 1/2 cup onion finely chopped.
- 3 teaspoons lemon juice
- Chopped green coriander for garnish
Method
- After washing the Dal, add water, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and pressure cook till the dal is tender and of a consistency of your choice. (Normally takes 2 – 3 whistles if cooked in a cooker)
- Reduce heat and add 1 teaspoon garlic paste (optional).Cook for 5 minutes stirring continuously.
- Add half the butter or cream, and all yogurt. Stir till well blended and absorbed.
- Prepare the Tadka: In another pan, heat the remaining butter. Add cumin seeds. When the mixture starts to sputter, add the onions and garlic and cook till they turn translucent.
- Add to the dal and stir.
- when ready add pepper & lemon juice& remaining butter or cream and garnish with chopped coriander
